Services
Light Editing
This service includes
careful proofreading, correction of spelling and grammar errors, and help
with basic formatting. Depending on your needs, I may suggest minor revisions
to improve clarity and style.
Fee for this service
is $5 per page (double-spaced) with a minimum of $25 per project.*
Substantial
Editing
This service is for
papers or text that need more extensive revision. I will look at the overall
document in terms of clarity, organization of ideas, and appropriateness
of writing style for the intended audience. General proofreading, a spelling
and grammar check, and formatting are included.
Fee for this service
begins at $7 per page (double-spaced)* and will depend on the amount of
work needed to achieve the final product. Once we agree on my involvement,
I will provide an estimate.
Consultation
This service is for
help focusing a project. Examples include:
- Ideas and scope for first
time brochures or newsletters
- Re-evaluation and update
for existing written materials (website, employee handbooks, etc.)
- Tutoring sessions and assistance
for written academic assignments
This type of work
will generally require telephone conversations or in-person meetings.
Fee for this service
ranges between $30 to $45 per hour and will depend on the amount and type
of work required. An estimate will be provided after an initial conversation
about the project scope.
Process
Generally, the process
will go as follows:
- You will email
the document to me along with an explanation of what type of work you
would like me to do and any pertinent deadlines.
- I will discuss
with you any questions I have about the work. I will provide a time
and cost estimates for project completion.
- Once we have agreed
on the scope of the project and the fee, I will begin the work. I may
contact you during the project if I have questions. I use Microsoft
Word’s “track changes” function to make edits in a
document. This function allows you to view the original text alongside
my changes. If you are not familiar with this function, I can provide
further explanation. If your document is in another program such as
Excel or Indesign, we may make alternate arrangements.
- I will send an
email invoice, which must be paid before completion of the work. For
larger jobs, we may arrange payment in mutually agreed installments.
Payment
Payment is accepted
through Paypal or by individual arrangement. For simple projects, I will
send an invoice by email as soon as we agree to work together. Payment
must be made in full before the work is completed. For larger or more
complex projects, I may request payment in installments. To the extent
possible, I will work with your company's accounting requirements.
